“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.” Frida Kahlo
Endometriosis is a disease that affects 1 in 10 women. For a disease so common, why has no-one heard of it? why does it take an average of 7.5 years to diagnose? why is there no cure found? why is there minimal funding to find one? and why is there limited treatment options?
Issues surrounding the female reproductive system and women’s pain are such a taboo. Talking about it is difficult enough, let alone sharing intimate details on canvas. There needs to be more of a conversation about the disease and all the other issues around it, and there is no better time to start the conversation than right now.
I am trying to raise awareness for the disease as well as educate people. Part of this is to show people the realities of the sufferers and how endometriosis feels.
