My work explores the relation between body image and societal pressures exerted on today’s generation of social media users. Through the process of photography and sculpture, my goal is to express individual beauty through a diverse range of body types – not just the idealised stereotype reinforced across social media platforms. A book by Therese Lichtenstein (Behind Closed Doors: The Art of Hans Bellmer) introduced me to body dysmorphia and heightened my previous work on body manipulation. This second and first hand research characterised my fascination for the human body and set me on a journey of self-development which pushed my artistic boundaries.
